A Self-Reliance Program designed by Camp Fire

 A Program of six sessions designed to teach third through sixth graders about peer presure  situations they are likely to encounter and how to respond to keep themselves safe and to  think independently.

 Contents:

 Understanding Assertive - Defines and discriminates between aggressive and assertive   responses.

 Being a Friend - Defines qualities of a "good friend".

 More on Being a Friend - Learning how to give compliments and initiate conversations.

 Peer Pressure Survival Skills - Six concrete ways to deal with peer pressure.

 Summing Up - A Review of strategies taught in previous sessions.

 Attention Schools: "I'm Peer Proof" is approved as Safe and Drug - Free programming by  the Governor's Office for Safe and Drug - free Schools and Communities.

 As a teacher - participant with your students or youth group, you receive:

 1. Complete teacher manual with structured lession plans, activities, and program  materials.

 2. Program workbooks for each child participant.

 3. Certificates of completion for each child.

 4. Training in the use of the program manual and method of evaluation from Camp Fire USA      staff.

 5. Ongoing support and contact from Camp Fire USA program director for additional      needs.

 Camp Fire USA instructors available at a cost of $ 60 per class of 35 or fewer children.

 Contents:

 Rules - Helps children understand why rules and laws are good for them.

 Safety at Play - How to recognize danerous situations and how to respond to them.

 Taste Only What's Safe - Teaches abot the proper way medicine is used, and other  examples  about unsafe things to put in one's mouth.

 "No Thank You Stranger" - How to repond to strangers.

 Nobody Wins a fight - Teaches children how to handle disagreements.

 Can I Tell a Secret? - Teaches children how to respond to confusing or frightening  touches  from others.
